With 22 years of experience as a podiatrist, Rebecca Healy knows all there is to know about feet. Advocating mobilising techniques as treatment for foot and leg problems, she has worked in the Barossa Valley in South Australia for 19 years. When Rebecca had to choose between moving the clinic to a similar style property or updating and building in a new location, she decided on Premier Building Solutions to help her create an unforgettable clinic.
The brief: A new clinic relocation and rebuild
In 2020 when the owner sold the building housing the Your Foot Doctor clinic, Rebecca was faced with a choice. She could relocate to another building of the same age and style or take an opportunity to renovate the existing space in another property and build the clinic of her dreams. Finding a builder that would keep to budget was important not only because the move had to happen during the early COVID lockdowns and uncertainties, but because this practice was Rebecca's entire livelihood. The stakes were high as Rebecca invested considerably into this project.
Meeting health standards and safety requirements
The building Rebecca wanted to move to was built in 1973, which meant that the first challenge for PBS to navigate was complex building regulations for fire safety. Your Foot Doctor also had specific healthcare setting requirements to ensure the clinic met the highest infection control standards possible, at the same time creating a space accessible and negotiable by all patients while considering their abilities.
PBS inspected the site and discussed potential challenges with me initially, so when the quote came in, I trusted the numbers. They were open and able to modify their quote to suit my budget providing me with transparency in their figures so I could see exactly where they were saving me money.

HEALTHCARE CLINIC REQUIREMENTS MET
Knowing that guidelines for infection control were essential to the Your Foot Doctor clinic, PBS managed the build so that contractors could work together to get the required result. We worked in tandem with a specialist in vinyl flooring to ensure the wall was in place so they could install the vinyl to reach up the wall partially from the floor.
PBS installed stainless steel in the bathrooms to create a space designed to facilitate thorough and effective cleaning. Demarcation of doors needed to be clear to ensure that any visually impaired clients could navigate the area well.
REGULAR COMMUNICATION PROVIDED REASSURANCE
Providing weekly updates on a Friday to Rebecca allowed communication about the project to keep up to date and stay on track. Rebecca's old clinic was nearby, so PBS could involve her as much as she wanted via phone or in person.

PBS met Rebecca’s desire for sustainability by recycling the doors from the original building rather than using new ones. We also made sure to be thoughtful of the other tenants in the building and worked around them to minimise disruption and control the spread of dust and building noise.
PERSONABLE AND APPROACHABLE SERVICE
PBS managed the whole project and sourced the best and most competitive contractors available. We invited each contractor in to discuss with Rebecca what she had in mind, which meant the brief was clear and facilitated the development of innovative and fresh ideas for the space by tapping directly into their expertise.
Increase in client base since renovation
When Rebecca opened the doors to the new Your Foot Doctor clinic in May 2021, she told us the clients were absolutely astounded by the new space. The clinic quickly gained a reputation for its incredible transformation of the existing space and began attracting more clients and new practitioners.
Increase in work satisfaction for employees
The new space allowed the business to restructure and streamline the way it worked; they found their days more efficient and even happier. While COVID had stunted their business growth, since they opened their new space, Your Foot Doctor has seen an increase in client base, necessitating the introduction of two new practitioners in 2023.
PBS absolutely met my expectations. The finished product is so lovely and it works really, really well. We wouldn’t change a thing.
